Each singer will rehearse for and attend three major concert programs each season. These concerts are scheduled to accommodate our conductor Gregory Kunde’s opera performance schedule; we perform throughout the academic calendar year with concerts typically slated for October, December/January, and May. Additionally, we often include smaller concert opportunities in our calendar, reprising repertoire favorites. The Chorale rehearses on Monday evenings at 7PM for approximately two hours. We meet at St. Joseph’s Church, located at 43 Gebhardt Road in Penfield. Generally, one additional rehearsal per month is scheduled on a Thursday, same time and location. Orchestra and dress rehearsals are scheduled as needed and appropriate with respect to concert repertory, venue, and other variables. As an independent not-for-profit organization, The Chorale requests that each singer agree to a participation fee, collected bi-annually. This participation fee, which compensates our rehearsal accompanist, is calculated upon the number of rehearsals scheduled. Each voice section has a representative that handles the collection of fees and ultimately turns monies over to our Treasurer. You may bring a prepared solo to perform at your audition, though it is not required. Our singers vary greatly with respect to musical education and performance experience, and we encourage all singers with an interest in the Chorale to sing for Mr. Kunde.
